Attackers have again succeeded in hacking the forum of game developer Epic Games and thereby have probably captured data from users. It is e-mail, password, user name and date of birth. Epic Games says not that the hashed passwords were saved. In addition, affected users are advised that if they used the forum password on another website, because they have to adapt immediately.
Some users are now asking for this interpretation, whether the passwords were stored in plain text. If the database are indeed stolen, it would mean that the attacker can view these passwords immediately. Epic Games is known for games like Unreal Tournament, Gears of War and several other titles. In an e-mail forum users the developer says that the forums of the games UDK, Infinity Blade, Gears of War, Bulletstorm and previous Unreal Tournament games are affected, says gaming site Kotaku .
Meanwhile a security enabled and all users reset the password. The forum is currently off the air. From a cached version of the forum shows that it has 262,000 registered users. It is not the first time that attackers manage to gain access to the database of the forum. In 2011 there was a similar incident before.
